MassDOT

MassDOT includes four Divisions: Highway, Transit, Aeronautics, and Registry of Motor Vehicles. The Secretary appoints an administrator for each division.

Public Works Department

The Public Works Department manages the construction, maintenance, cleaning and use of public infrastructure throughout the City. We manage streets, bridges, street lights, and pedestrian ramps.

The mission of the Boston Transportation Department is to promote public safety, manage the city’s transportation network, and enhance the quality of life for residents of our city neighborhoods.

About Boston Public Works

In addition, PWD provides core basic services essential to neighborhood quality of life, such as snow/ice control, trash and recycling collection, and street sweeping. Finally, the Department helps keep the rest of the City moving by managing the City’s vehicle fleet.
